Custom Responsive Page Layouts – Widgetized Pages
Adding widgets to a page is a very flexible way to build your own unique page layout. Your layout will be responsive. Easy, fun, no coding required!
- Create as many custom sidebars as you want
- Create a new page
- Create your responsive column layout – in a few clicks with the OTW grid manager
- Insert new sidebar in column
- Go to Appearance -> Widgets and put some widgets into the new sidebar
Your other option is to copy the sidebar’s shortcode and paste it into the page/post wherever you need it. Or use the Insert sidebar shortcode button in the editor to do the same.

Vertical and horizontal widget alignment
- Vertical
This is the default WordPress widget alignment. Widgets in a vertically aligned sidebar (widget area) are arranged in columns below each other. - Horizontal
Widgets in a horizontally aligned sidebar (widget area) will be arranged next to each other (on the same row). Such widget areas are fluid and very flexible. The widget area width will be divided evenly among all widgets in this widget area. Horizontal alignment is often used for widget pages.

Replace the existing theme sidebar with a custom sidebar.
Display relevant content on your page. You can now replace an existing sidebar (widget area) with a custom sidebar for one or a group of pages, templates, posts, custom post types, taxonomies, etc. (any combination). The content of the new sidebar will appear in exactly the same location as the content you choose to replace, for only those pages you choose. You can also easily set your sidebar to be a Sticky sidebar, so that even if the user scrolls down the page, the content in the sidebar stays visible.
- Create a custom sidebar
- Select the sidebar to replace
- Choose where to display your custom sidebar – any set of pages, templates, posts, custom post types, taxonomies, and more.
- Go to your Appearance -> Widgets and put some widgets in the new sidebar
Widget Visibility – Full Control
Now each widget can be shown or hidden on one or several pages, templates, posts, custom post types, taxonomies, etc. (any combination). It works with all widgets – WordPress default and any custom added widgets.
- Go to Appearance -> Widgets
- Each widget has a button called Set Visibility
- Choose where widgets are shown or hidden
OTW Content Sidebar
Add custom sidebars to the left and right of page and post content. This works best in a full-width page template. If your theme doesn’t have one, we’ve included such a template.
Content sidebars can be set for all pages, and these settings can be overridden individually for each page.
These sidebars can easily be made as sticky sidebars so that the content in these sidebars stays visible even when the user scrolls down the page.
Add sidebar in page template file
Although it requires a little coding knowledge, it’s still pretty straightforward. Use the shortcode and WordPress function for the sidebar you want to adddo_shortcode.
If you are a ThemeForest theme writer
Include this item in your theme to give your users full control over page layout, sidebar and widget visibility. You only need to provide 1 extended license for each theme you put on the market, and get the author’s permission by writing to us:http://themeforest.net/user/OTWthemes#contact
Interface and performance optimization
- Great for core WordPress design
- Optimized performance for large WP installs
- Ajax-based operation, so you don’t have to wait for the page to refresh
- Filters in Lists – Search, Total Selection, Select/Deselect All, Show All Select/Deselect, Order Options, Pagination
- Content types are grouped

It’s flexible and you can use it quickly. While there are many plugins that can be used to create columns, S&W Manager does it the best, i.m.o., and more. The learning curve is very, very low (if there is one!)
